Happy Christmas All!
A thought. (If I can concentrate for long enough that is. Concentrating is hard.) Alternatively, you can just look at the pictures.
Earlier this year - I was told by a man whom I had known for only a few minutes, that though he was retired he had decided to get a job to "keep his mind active....".
(Oh Look...!)
|
His statement seemed to imply that I was missing something and that he thought I might need it. An "active mind".
Apparently you can get an "active mind" by going to work, where you will also have Budgets, and Business Plans, and Meetings! And there are "Competencies"! (I never did know what those were?)
Then there is arguing about Brexit. (Arguing, arguing, arguing.) There is whether the economy is doomed or not. There's the Presidential Election - in France. There's nasty people being nasty on social media. (And on, and on, and...)
(Hang on a minute - It's Rupert on a sled! Look! Wheee.....)

I can keep a score card on the golf course - just about. I can work out how much money I need for another beer. I can go for a pleasant walk and even find my own way home - mostly.
An "Active mind" is something - that I can - do without.

(That really is a big snowball...look out Bill Badger!)
What I really need is a bit like some version of "mindfulness" where you stop thinking about anything except perhaps - golf, beer, the odd book, a tree maybe? Meditate on that. That sounds good!
So I told the nice man - that "No" I didn't want a job to keep my mind active. I'm happy enough as I am.
And then, we tee'd off.

Rupert says Happy Christmas girls and boys! So do I.
(Where's the chocolate gone? I left it here somewhere. Have you seen it? Worry not. I'll find it.)
